[review & swatches] Innisfree Smart Foundation Perfect Cover

09:00:00

Today we're going to talk about a Korean foundation that I bought the last winter in occasion of one of Jolse's sales: the Innisfree Smart Foundation Perfect Cover.
Innisfree is one of the most famous Korean brands, especially for its skincare products, but in the last years it's doing a good job with makeup too.
We need to be careful, though: if you look at the Innisfree site, you get the idea of a brand that cares about nature, that uses natural ingredients etc. And it's true, but not completely: the boxes are in recycled paper, I think even the ink is natural (squid ink, maybe? I don't remember), recently the sold a pouch completely made of recycled plastic (if you look at their Facebook page, you may find a video about it), and the natural ingredients they use are all from Jeju island.
BUT! Innisfree isn't a natural brand, in the sense it doesn't use all natural ingredients: there are many products well formulated, but most of them have some 'red flags', like the product I'm going to talk about today.
I know not everybody cares about natural ingredients etc, I myself don't really care, when it comes to makeup, but I wanted to say it, since looking at the site, reading the claims, you may think it's a natural brand.
But let's talk about the product!

Innisfree has 3 Smart Foundations: dust block, long lasting and perfect cover. I bought the last one because I have some imperfection I need to cover, but you can mix them together to have more benefits (or a shade nearer to yours). The product is contained in a small plastic tube of 15ml, which comes into a recycled paper box. The product doesn't seem a lot, but you don't need a lot for the whole face and it isn't pricey, so you can buy more than one and even mix them together.

INGREDIENTS/INGREDIENTI
Water, Titanium Dioxide, Cyclopentasiloxane, Zinc Oxide, Butylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Dimethicone, Glycerin, Ethylhexyl Olivate, Caprylyl Methicone, Cyclohexasiloxane, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil, Niacinamide, Sodium Chloride, Lauryl PEG-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Disteardimonium Hectorite, The green Tea Extract, Orchid Extract, Camellia Leaf Extract, Adansonia Digitata Seed Extract, Sophora Japonica Flower Extract, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit Extract, Fructan, Calcium Stearate, Beeswax, Ozokerite, Sorbitan Olivate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Silica, Triethyl Citrate, Hydrogen Dimethicone, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Adenosine, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Red Iron Oxides, Yellow Iron Oxides, Black Iron Oxides

As you can see, there is silicon, but I've been using it for a while and it didn't clog my pores or given any other issues. Among the ingredients we can find Jeju minerals and green tea, that make your skin look healty. It also has SPF 33/PA+++.

The main issue with Korean products for the base is the colors range: all the shades are really light, if you have a lightly dark complexion you'll have a hard time finding something.
I have the medium shade, 21 natural beige, but I'm thinking about purchasing the darker one to mix them together when I'll be a bit darker: right now it's lighter than my face but matches my body, so it's okay, but probably in the next month (even if I don't tan that much) it will be too light. Maybe I won't, since I think the consistency is a bit too heave for summer, for my personal taste.

In the following photo is swatched next to my So'bio BBcream, which is darker and more orange, but suits my skin perfectly, once applied.

The consistency is fluid and quite thin, but maybe not enough for summer.
The products claims to smooth the skin, be long lasting and, of course, high coverage. I can say it does all those things: after applying it the skin is quite smooth, the lasting power is good (7-8 hours, but I haven't tested it with high temperatures) and the coverage is very good. With a small amount I manage to cover all the redness and most of the pimples, if I have some; I need a concealer only if I have a particularly red monster (luckily recently I don't have so much of them).
I prefer applying it with a brush, tapping it on my face, while the sponge absorbs too much product.
The finish is not matte, but slightly dewy; it looks good. With the Innisfree No-sebum powder I get oily after 5-6 hours, wich is good.

I have to say I'm really satisfied with this foundation. Surely, in the future I'll buy the darker shade to see how they mis together, maybe of another version (I'm intrigued by the dust block one!).
I bought mine on Jolse, where it's around $8 but often on sale. You can find it on other sites too, also in the official one; as always, the prices variates, and so the shipping costs.
